Kyok-Pa
is the art of focussing all your physical and mental energy on a single point in the shortest possible time. Hard training, strength, speed and concentration are the best prerequisites for a successful break test! The break test shows what stage the athlete has reached in their physical and mental development. The break test is a stage in TKD practice that requires a certain degree of technical perfection and mental maturity. The interplay of physical and mental performance, which is crucial for this skill level, has its origins in DO, the philosophy of Taekwondo.
Either the breaking tests are carried out with spruce wood in the age-appropriate board thicknesses or training boards can also be used. Training boards are plastic boards that can be reused but have the resistance of a natural board. Of course, other materials can also be used for break tests.
Normally, the break test is carried out on 3 cm thick spruce boards. For teenagers, 2 cm is considered normal and for children from green belt upwards, 1 cm board thickness.
